Les contes de La Clayette
Texts by Alain Crozier : indian ink on paper
Illustrations by Catherine Perret : indian ink and acrylic on paper
This series presents the original illustrations of Alain Crozier’s
poetry book La Cité des clés, published in june 2007 by Jacques André
Editeur, Lyon. Catherine Perret illustrated 11 poems from this set.
Handwritten texts and drawings are assembled in clip frames.
The final work made a relation between words and images. In this case,
Catherine worked with texts already written by Alain Crozier, creating
an association text- illustrations. Differences appear between the
associations texts-illustrations from the exhibit and the associations
texts-illustrations from the book. When Alain Crozier discovered these
illustrations, he found some illustrations got better with another
text. Associations texts-illustrations can be different according to
the persons.
The poem has specific tools, the words, which create own images to the
text. The illustrations are a way to push people to create their own
image, they are at the same time an opening but also a closure, because
they limit the imagination. They also give a depth to these words. It’s
a convergence of visions, words vision with images vision to create an
alliance.
